Re lining fuel tanks can often be a more economical alternative to full replacement. We have recently completed contract work on a bulk storage tank for the Niugini Oil Company in Papua New Guinea.

The project was to line a leaky 1,000 ton Columbia tec tank used to house automotive diesel oil. The lining system had to not only meet the American Petroleum Institute API spec 12B but also had to withstand tropical conditions including a wide range of temperatures.

The project entailed:

Flying out 2 technical engineers for initial assessment, tank surface preparation, application and final testing

Recruitment of local labour for tank preparation and lining application

Shipping equipment by ocean freight containers in advance of the work

Application of a Strong anti-corrosion resin primer, a special epoxy resin based flexible jointing compound followed by two coats of a glass flake reinforced solvent free flexible epoxy resin tank lining material
