Distributed Architecture
The decentralized design of the ME 8012 station control system allows the automation facilities to be optimally matched to the process requirements. The system is of modular structure and can be applied in a centralized or distributed arrangement. The system's intelligence is divided into independent hardware and function components, i.e. the ME 8012 subscribers. Subscribers communicate with each other through the redundant SUB-NET serial system bus.
Each subscriber processes a self-contained function within the overall automation task. Each subscriber is adapted to its part of the process by means of binary, analog and serial input and output modules, and by means of multiprocessor modules. Functionality is determined by the function macros defined during project design. The process information and the computed results are sent to other subscribers through the SUB-NET system bus. This distributed architecture of the ME 8012 control system offers significant benefits in comparison to conventional automation equipment.
